about
The First Hundred Years was compiled from practice tapes, studio 4-tracks, and live recordings. Thermos of Happiness began life as the earliest Cleveland band inspired by British postpunk, but later incorporated garage and psychedelic influences as well. They played a surprising number of shows in their short life span, opening locally for The Embarrassment, Sort Sol, and Get Smart. Mark Edwards and Tim Gilbride were both DJ's at WCSB FM, Cleveland State University. Three years after Thermos, Edwards began a long and prolific solo career, recording and playing as My Dad Is Dead. Gilbride is a guitarist and songwriter in Uva Ursi and Cruel, Cruel Moon. Ben Axelrod has recently released a solo CD, recorded under the name, The Whim.
